About the Event
Opening Friday, August 2, at ART 180, Found Emotions: Our Revolution is the final exhibition and culmination of the Atlas Artist Residency–a summerlong art intensive for an esteemed group of creative and dedicated high school artists, led by teaching artists-in-residence, Xolani Sivunda (ART 180’s inaugural International Artist in Residence from Cape Town, South Africa) and Nastassja Swift (a multidisciplinary artist based in Petersburg, VA).
These 10 young artists have reshaped found objects into mediums exploring deep waves of their own history, memories, growth, pride, and freedom with 2D and 3D works that include reflective self-portraits, sculptures, paintings, installations, video, sound, and performance.
Join us at the opening of Found Emotions: Our Revolution, for a curated art experience crafted by the residency cohort, and witness the unveiling of the massive collaborative monument, Umama, and so she sows, on display Friday evening in the intersection of W Marshall + Brook Rd.
